Job Description
The Senior Coordinator of Policy and Advocacy is a 12-month, term-limited role dedicated to supporting CAF’s school food workforce policy portfolio. The primary responsibility of this position is leading CAF’s School Food Workforce Advisory Committee—a national working group focused on dismantling systemic barriers to scratch cooking in schools through the lens of the school food workforce—through its next vital phase of work. In addition to managing the committee’s day-to-day operations, this role advances CAF’s broader policy portfolios on school food workforce development and ultra-processed foods through strategic research, education, and awareness-building. The ideal candidate will also provide versatile, as-needed support across the Policy and Advocacy team, helping to expand CAF's national thought leadership in these critical areas.
Key Responsibilities
Committee Leadership & Coalition Management
- Manage daily operations and coalition-building efforts for CAF’s National School Food Workforce Advisory Committee (SFWAC).
- Act as the primary point of contact for all SFWAC members and external stakeholders.
- Facilitate SFWAC meetings, overseeing agenda creation, official meeting notes, and technical administration.
- Champion strategic goals, driving the implementation of committee initiatives and action items.
- Evaluate growth opportunities, assessing the feasibility of expanding the coalition’s scope, reach, and impact.
Policy & Advocacy Portfolio Support
- Support key CAF policy portfolios, specifically focusing on school food workforce development and ultra-processed foods.
- Drive engagement by conducting research, developing educational content, and executing public awareness-building initiatives.
Other duties assigned within the scope of this position.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or a high school diploma and 4 years of equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience or knowledge in school food, food systems, or workforce development.
- 4+ years of experience in public policy, with a preference for work in the anti-hunger, nutrition, or workforce development sectors.
- Strong project management skills, including effective time management and clear communication.
- Ability to travel for work (1–2 trips annually).
- Ability to work virtually.
- Proficient in Asana or PM Software, G Suite, VirtualMeetings, Salesforce or other CRM.
Preferred Education, Formal Training, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science or Public Policy
- Background working directly with K-12 school meal programs.
- Experience managing policy coalitions and stakeholder partnerships.
- Proficiency in public policy analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to write and draft concise policy briefs.

Compensation
Compensation ranges between $27.25 - $34.98 per hour and will be commensurate with the candidate’s previous experience and credentials. The Chef Ann Foundation is a great place to work. This position is remote and can be based anywhere within the contiguous United States.
